Begur on the Costa Brava, Spain
- We had a flight arranged from Seville to Barcelona, Spain where we then rented a car and drove a couple hours north of Barcelona to Begur. Our hotel, Le Petit Convent, was right in town & could not have been a better choice. We took a short drive to the local San Tuna beach for a swim and enjoyed a late lunch at Es Furio Restaurant overlooking the water. Then, we went back to town for a stroll in the evening.
- From the hotel, we walked up the mountain trail to the Castle of Begur for the panoramic view. Drove to Platja De Sa Riera beach for a swim and a paella lunch at a shore side patio.
- Later, we took a walk to the town of Begur to visit the small shops, interesting streets and then out to supper for another great meal. Begur should be on your “must do” list for sure! Take note… the town has a population of about 4000 but in the high tourist season that becomes 10X greater. The language of choice in this area is Catalan and not Spanish.
- On the road back to Barcelona we took a side trip to Platja D’Aro beach on the Badia De Palamos for lunch in town and a boat tour of the coast. The boat was had a glass bottom view and ventured into a couple of caves for a little more interest. Don’t pass this up!
